The Icons

@Roman Salon

Hi fellow readers! Its been a while hasn't it?...I guess being out of school and working has really got the best of me. I feel I have so much to update I just don't even know where to start!

I guess based on my selfie situation, its obvious I tried to get myself into this passing summer mode by dying/highlighting my hair. I was introduced to this hair stylist, Sabrina Sanchez at the Roman Salon and she did an amazing job. The salon is really cute too (you know me, I love good ambiance).

Lately, I've been trying to pull back on shopping but could not turn away at this Saint Laurent suede fringe skirt.

Uhh...how amazing right? I look very fall-esque but fall is my season so what can I say ;) As I usually say in my previous posts, always buying the best pieces and not just buying clothes. Paired with a simple black tee and black boots, the skirt speaks for itself.

Speaking of key pieces, this french fry shirt had my name all over it when I saw it. "Fries before guys." Way too good to pass up.

To end my catch up post, these iconic pieces are more like splurges I couldn't resist. Lets just say I am weak when it comes to peer pressure and Chanel in the same sentence.

In LOVE with my limited edition purple ombre wallet. And of course I joined the Dior sunglass trend ;)

Thanks for reading and catch you later! xoxo

May Mashup

Hi readers! Long time no writing. My hiatus has been due to the crazy phases of life that are flashing before my eyes. From adjusting to my new place of employment to officially graduating from college...how unreal (*screaming*)! So many things have been going on that I have not been able to shoot outfits other than from my trusty iphone 6. Therefore, I felt like it was a good time to just have a catchup post of some thrown together outfits with some of my new favorite and oldie but goodie favorite pieces.

These days I like to keep it casual when I'm not working because I feel I have to dress up and never get to wear shorts. I fell in love with ReDone denim. Their take on a the vintage levis in a modern cut is definitely what's trending this summer. Even though its a bit difficult to figure out sizing, a belt usually fixes the problem. My patched bomber jacket is another new favorite obsession I have. As spotted first on my favorite blogger Chiara Ferragni (The Blonde Salad), I just had to have it, and of course it didn't disappoint.

I guess the trend I am embracing right now is that vintage look, even with this vintage remodeled levi military jacket. It's a great piece to wear with any outfit; yes even with dresses. To add that modern touch, I sported my Mansur Gavriel bucket bag with the red interior which is the best bucket bag because it keeps its upright shape. For the quality of the leather, the price was a total steal.

Another way to sport that Mansur Gavriel bucket bag (small size).

Some upclose details on what I wore to my graduation ceremony. A floral ALC dress with a yellow ivory Celine trio. Adding a light toned bag to my collection for a change! I love the geometric pattern at Republique restaurant, and I love their food too hehehe.

Commemorative graduation photo in case you don't believe me.

An oldie but goodie Chanel boot I wish would never deteriorate...must tread lightly... Photographed at one of my favorite coffee shops (Comoncy).

Gotta take a selfie! Just because I rarely show my face in full body shots. Thanks for reading :)

Elegance Meets Casual

Happy spring time readers! It's been a while right? Sorry about that...as I transition into a "full time worker" chapter in my life, sleeping is one of my best friends right now which takes me away from the blogging scene a bit. But don't fret because I will always try to put my best looks together to share with you guys!

If you follow me on instagram, you can see that I just had to post about these Frame jeans I'm wearing. I was hesistant at first about those huge rips on the knees but I am LOVING it. The fabrication of the denim is also more rigid and not as stretchy which is why these are my go-to pair of denim right now. Even though people struggle with the idea of paying a steep price for jeans with rips....all I can say is....you'll love it like I do?

PLUS, in the past weeks that I have not posted, my birthday passed so I'm 22 now!! *cue the Taylor Swift song* I totally treated myself to these amazing, edgy Chanel "sandals" even though they are sort of loafers at the same time. As seen on runway, I love these shoes so I am trying to tread lightly. With a little peep around the middle of your foot and an ankle strap they are just like the best shoes for any outfit. They are more of a fancier sandal, but that does not mean you can't dress it down as I have in my look today!

This is another impromptu look with the Frame denim which is definitely an edgier pair of denim.

Camel Tones

California sunshine is among us finally! Time to bust out shorts and anything that shows a little more skin for that vitamin D. This cute little number is actually called the cali dress ironically, and its from Reformation which is one of my new favorite boutiques. You can go online to their website or they have a boutique on Melrose, and its really hard to not wanna buy everything you see. One of the reasons I really like the brand is that it makes most of the clothing from environmentally friendly and sustainable fabrics (according to their website). I also got another dress from there but that will be for another special occassion this month ;)

Bomb(ers) Away!

Hey all, hope you had a great Valentines Day! ~ Today I show some 'tude in my all black ensemble and blush pink bomber jacket. I am in love with the idea of the bomber jacket lately. A jacket that is meant to be light to keep you comfortable, yet still enough to avoid any wind. I fell in love with this jacket from Allsaints (no surprise) because of its unique silk fabrication, making it a little more sleek, or as slang goes fleek. The detailing on this jacket is so amazing and not what you would expect when you turn around.

I'm sure you've also noticed that I am not wearing boots for a change but these nike sneakers. Very unlike me, but I guess my blogger friend has influenced me just a smidgen. Plus with my ever lasting soul cycle love, I guess I gotta balance out the heels for some comfort once in a while. Not having heels for a change is actually very comfortable.....maybe a little TOO comfortable.

**All shot from my iPhone this time ;)

T by AW

Today, I'm really being a true Cali girl. Denim. Dress. Sunglasses. High pony tail. I'm truly enjoying the sun while I can. After being cooped up at work and school, it feels good to be out when I can. This amazing trapeze dress by T by Alexander Wang is light-weight, comfortable, and still shows your body shape. What else could you ask from a dress?

Paired with the dress a simple denim jacket does the trick to get some arm coverage without being too hot. Definitely an outfit with contrasting textures.

Playing with Lengths

Oh Los Angeles, you are too good to us los angelinos. Considering it is still considered winter (I think), we get such good weather. It felt good to get some vitamin D on my skin for a change. Keeping it really simple this Sunday with some good basics and dark hues. Since its technically winter, in an attempt to cover up, this lengthy, olive cardigan from Topshop somewhat covers up all the leg I have been showing around town today. The length cardigan also gets to cover up how pasty I look. On the one hand I love being so pale, but then I like being tan ._. I can never win.

My boyfriend shorts are extremely distressed by Rag & Bone. I have to tread carefully just so it doesn't rip anymore! Fingers crossed. However, I have my eyes on the black version of these shorts which are super cute, you might be seeing them on some future summer post....teehee. I say boyfriend shorts but I drastically sized down so I can achieve a tighter fit.

It's fun to mix and match different pieces from my closet together. Keeping with my resolution is so difficult by the way, I hope you guys are having better luck than I am *sad face*

Tomato Soup

Happy 2015! I can't believe how fast time has flown by, which means new year, new resolutions, new you~ I can definitely say I have kept to that mantra so far...even though it has only been 7 days (don't judge me). However, the only set back right now is this cold that everyone I know seems to be having, including me. And what is the cure to colds? SOUP! Although this sweater can't be eaten, it does make you crave soup...which is what I'm craving now... #foodieproblems.

To add a more preppy look, I added a button up striped shirt to add another print and to make the sweater not seem like just a sweater. And to bring some color to this whole grey look, I recently purchased (in 2014), a small comme des garçon pouch which I use as a wallet, and inside I put a cardholder to keep things more organized. I love this discovery I made about pouches which I use to think were useless. A more stylish, smaller way to have your necessities on the go, which is also ideal for saving space in tiny sized bags.

To end my head to toe rant of what I'm wearing and the usual, these high waisted jeans from 7 for all mankind are kind of amazing, skin tight, feels like you're wearing nothing jeans. Keep in mind that they're ultra ultra stretchy so they kind of fit like jeggings, but they're quality is better than your typical jeggings, because they're not (I always make things more confusing than necessary). And of course the best part of outfits (sometimes) are the shoes! My first loafers by 3.1 Phillip Lim. They are iridescent on the top and they're patent all around...the coolest prep shoes ever. They match almost everything too.

Again, Happy 2015 readers! Thanks for all the loyalty to reading my random rants and comments on my style, and hopefully everything you're aiming to achieve happens for you this year :) Just to put it out there, I hope to keep my 2 top resolutions of 1. continuing to stay fit (through soul cycle...BEST WORKOUT EVER) 2. cut back clothing/bags/shoes/accessories spending unless its a special occassion or holidays or vacations (this one is gonna be hard for me for obvious reasons).

Forever Oversized

Seasons Greetings! I know I've been having gaps in my posts, but I've been busy! But it is about time that we feel the chilly weather in the air, which gives me more reasons to get coats and jacket (my current obsession).

This jacket by Sessun has completely caught my attention. Very tomboy style with the grey tones and the leather elbowpads. Easily paired back to a clean black outfit, you can do no wrong. Sessun can be found on online retailers, Farfetch and Madewell. My bomber jacket is obviously oversized as I purchased a medium size, I hate it when the jackets are tight around the shoulders. As you can see, this look is me trying to channel my inner parisian self. Teehee.

I also got a hair cut, so I can try using my Bumble and Bumble hair spray, which I hope will give me that natural beach wave hair style I've been wanting!

The other investment pieces featured in this post are Balenciaga cut out ankle boots, Chanel medium boy bag, Rag & Bone jeans, uniqlo long sleeve v neck, and giant vintage sunglasses!

Sparkle It Up

Happy December, readers! It is THE best time of the year, and the first time I'm posting this month. It's been so hectic with the end of my second to last semester of college...gah! But in the back of my mind and almost any second that I have a free thought, all I can think about is CHRISTMAS! And as we transition into the holidays, its time to bring out those holiday outfits for all the parties and dinners coming up! This dress from Allsaints does exactly just that. Combining the sexy appeal of lace, this dress also has little sparkly beads that shine under the light. I like that sparkle, but I guess its because I like to be the center of attention? Haha.

Underneath the whole ensemble (which was not included in my purchase), I wore black shorts and a tank to get that needed coverage. This is a more realistic approach so show some skin but still be covered. If you have not seen the Victoria Secret Fashion Show, Taylor Swift's outfit in the last segment was phenomenal, and if I could wear an outfit like that on the daily I probably would, but in the meantime, this is as much skin as I'll show this holiday season :)

It's all about the DETAILS!

Allsaints has a new version of this dress on their website, and they're currently having an end of the season sale which you should NOT miss out on. Great pieces.

Boot Behemoth

Hey readers! I'm back!!! Being busy with classes and work didn't give me much of a chance to get around to taking blog photos. BUT when I'm back, I'm back with a kick. As we all know at this point, I have a weakness for boots of all sorts, but especially boots that are unique, which brings me to debut my Balenciaga cut out ankle boots! Since last fall, I have been wanting these shoes but did not have the willpower to buy them, but a season later....here they are. I thought these were sold out but to my pleasant surprise I found them at Barneys New York. That store literally has everything any shopaholic could want! But anyway, these boots are as amazing as I knew they would be so stylish and pretty much matches every single thing in my closet!

On this windy day, I paired it with cropped distressed jeans by Rag & Bone with a simple white tee. Even though it wasn't even that cold (I'm cold all the time), I threw on the peppered grey Topshop coat that I got last year which gives some extra volume to my look~

My whole schpeel on clothes from different seasons, as long as it looks good, it does not matter what season it is from. Plus, more designer lines tend to produce timeless pieces so its pretty hard to go wrong anyway :P

By the way, as you can see, I am sporting some new lip wear! I totally got inspired at work to rock a fall red lip color called 'Olivia' by Nars. One of the Nars representatives at Saks Fifth Avenue helped me pick this stunner color. I also use a red lip liner to perfect the edges ;)

Trick or Treat?

OOOOO~~~ Halloween is approaching us and will you give a treat or get tricked? Hopefully...not the latter. As the first holiday of the fall season is here, it really kickstarts all the festivities which makes me SUPER excited. By trying to stay tuned and be in the spirit, I decided to carve a pumpkin this year! As you can see, it turned out rather decent for a rookie ;) I hope it's obvious that its a menacing jack skeleton.... and in keeping with "treat" portion of halloween, you can say I got quite a few goodies this past month that is in tune with a fashionistas sweet tooth.

Posted above is the Chanel medium boy bag. The new classic in my opinion. It's quilted but with a tomboy edge which is what I love about it. It is super spacious with an adjustable strap that can be worn long or short (I tend to do a cross body look, regardless of the size).

ANYWAY, back to the point of getting into the holiday spirit, I'm gonna show you the easy steps to carving your own pumpkin if you haven't already. And at the end of the post, a sweet treat to satisfy those sweet tooths out there!

Step 1. Find a template of the design you would like to carve onto your pumpkin. You could either poke holes from the template onto the pumpkin, then carve. Or, the way I did it was I cut the template and taped it on the pumpkin and traced it with an ink pen. Make sure the pen is removable with water so you can remove any lines from the pumpkin later.

Step 2. Make an angle cut around the stem to carve out the pumpkin gunk. Make sure the cut is at an angle so when you put the stem lid back on, it will not fall through the pumpkin. P.S. you can keep the pumpkin seeds and toast them later!

Step 3. Cut out the pumpkin face based on the outlines you made earlier, and your result should look like this or whatever design you have chosen! I kind of made me steps super condensed, but you get the gist of it :D

Now....for the grand finale of tasty treats to eat after your hard work of carving....SUGAR COOKIES. Place it. Bake it. Eat it. Can't get any easier than that right? These cookies are so amazingly delicious and cute. Can't go wrong!

Thanks for keeping up with my post this week! I hope you have a safe and fun Halloween!!

Bejeweled

Today's post is all about the bejeweled accents of this dress, not the game we all have played before :P Hopefully I didn't fool anyone! As you can see the amber colored jewels embroidered on the neckline of this dress adds a bit of sparkle to my ensemble. As I cannot escape from wearing black lately, at least I can say I have a bit of color? Plus I can say I am channeling my inner Halloween spirit with the amber/orange hue of the beads. Teehee.

This two piece dress by 3.1 Phillip Lim is so ethereal. The top portion worn on top of a spagetti tank dress can be worn separately as well with black jeans, making it a bit edgier. The bejeweled top portion paired back with the dress (as how its meant to be worn) is a bit more sophisticated. My favorite part is when you walk, the dress really does go with the wind (you know me pretending I'm runway walking everywhere I go). The entire look is made of silk so it really allows you to breathe especially since I wore at my 9:30am to 6pm work hours.

3.1 Phillip Lim is a brand I stumbled over, realizing how great their shapes, prints, and patterns are. This label has got me hooked!

As usual, paired back with my Rag & Bone Harrow boots, which are a great height and a bit tomboyish.

Can you believe how much my hair has grown?! In need of a cut and dye!

As usual, I try to never get to thank my readers for keeping up with me all this time! I hope to keep producing better photos and better writing~
